Be Aware of unethical recruitment agencies – The warning signs

article

As the recruitment markets heats up, more and more recruitment agencies are becoming more aggressive in their approach. There are certain warning signs that will allow you to establish which recruiters are ethical and which ones are not.

  • Ensure you use recruiters who have good recommendations on LinkedIn.
  • Recruiters that work in an environment where they are not driven by high targets to send as many CV’s as possible.
  • Good recruiters will not over promise and under deliver.
  • A poor recruiter will send your CV to a company that already has your CV, knowingly so.
  • A poor recruiter will ask candidates to send an email, indicating you want to go with another recruiter. Usually when they have sent the profile at a later date
  • A poor recruiter will not meet their candidates
  • A poor recruiter will put excessive pressure on a candidate, when the role is a not a good fit for them and waste both the clients and candidates time.
  • A poor recruiter will try to do everything possible to ruin a candidate’s chance of a new job if they know they will not get a placement.

As an employer my advice is the only work with recruiters you have met. Work with recruiters who will gladly give up the fee if another agency has sent the CV first and are not too pushy.

We always put our candidates first and ethics drive our business activity. We are open to discussing how you can get the most out of recruitment agencies and potentially set up a preferred suppliers list.
